Brisbane has experienced heavy rainfall, with up to 56 millimetres falling since 9am yesterday. The wet weather is expected to continue, with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting cloudy conditions with a very high chance of rain today. Showers are expected in the afternoon, with rain becoming less likely in the evening. Up to 25 millimetres of rain could fall today, but only 1-2 millimetres is expected over the Easter long weekend from Thursday to Tuesday.

Seqwater’s flood operations centre has activated a “lean forward activation” in response to the heavy rainfall. The centre is closely monitoring dam levels, rainfall, and inflows into dams. Gated releases may be necessary from North Pine Dam, while operational releases from Somerset into Wivenhoe Dam were conducted yesterday and may occur again today. Releases from Wivenhoe Dam are not anticipated, but several ungated dams are currently spilling excess water. People downstream are advised to avoid fast-flowing or deep water near waterways and flood plains.

The heavy rainfall in Brisbane has prompted Seqwater to closely monitor dam levels and make preparations for potential releases to manage water storage levels. While Brisbane is expected to receive more rain today, the amount of precipitation is expected to decrease over the Easter long weekend. The flood operations centre is on high alert and is ready to take action as needed to protect the community from possible flooding impacts.

Seqwater is warning residents downstream of the dams to exercise caution and stay away from fast-flowing and deep water near waterways and flood plains. With several dams already spilling excess water, there is a risk of flooding in these areas. Seqwater is working diligently to manage the water levels and ensure the safety of the community. The flood operations centre is actively monitoring the situation and will take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential risks associated with the heavy rainfall.

As Brisbane continues to experience wet weather, Seqwater has implemented measures to monitor dam levels, rainfall, and potential flooding risks. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow any instructions or warnings issued by authorities. It is crucial to exercise caution around waterways and flood-prone areas to prevent accidents or injuries. Seqwater is committed to protecting the community and is taking proactive steps to manage the water levels and minimize the impact of the heavy rainfall on the region.

In conclusion, Brisbane is facing continued rainfall with additional showers expected today. Seqwater is closely monitoring dam levels and preparing for potential releases to manage water storage levels in response to the heavy rainfall. Residents are urged to exercise caution around waterways and flood-prone areas, as several dams are spilling excess water. Seqwater’s flood operations centre is on high alert and ready to take action to ensure the safety of the community. It is important for residents to stay informed and follow any instructions or warnings issued by authorities to stay safe during this wet weather period.
