Prince Edward and his wife, Duchess Sophie, were left disappointed by a perceived snub from his brother, King Charles III, who did not recognize their recent support for him while his daughter-in-law, Princess Kate Middleton, undergoes cancer treatment. Charles announced new royal appointments, including Kate as the Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honor and Prince William as Great Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, but Edward was not included. Despite his disappointment, Edward was recently made a member of the Order of the Thistle, a prestigious honor in Scotland. The Companion of Honor is known for being a special award granted to those who have made significant contributions to various fields over a long period of time. Edward and Sophie were hoping for recognition, but remain dedicated and loyal.

Edward put on a brave face and led the royal family in London for a tribute to fallen members of the Australian and New Zealand armed forces on Anzac Day. The Duke of Edinburgh attended the Dawn Service at Hyde Park Corner at the New Zealand Memorial and appeared somber and moved during the ceremony. Anzac Day commemorates the 1915 Gallipoli landing of Australian and New Zealand troops in World War I and remembers all personnel who fought and died in conflict, many alongside British forces. Despite the perceived snub from his brother, Edward fulfilled his royal duties without hesitation, reflecting his growth and capability in his role.

Royal commentators note that Edward has grown comfortable in his royal role and has taken on new responsibilities, stepping up when needed. Despite past challenges, such as the disastrous TV show ‘It’s a Royal Knockout,’ Edward has thrived in recent years. He has taken on important roles, such as replacing the Duke of Kent as Colonel of the Scots Guards and receiving Scotland’s highest royal honor, the Order of the Thistle. Edward is seen as a wise counselor to future king Prince William and a dependable asset in the slimmed-down monarchy. He approaches royal duties without fuss or fanfare and is viewed as a reliable and capable member of the royal family.

On the same busy day, Edward attended the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster, laying a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of King Charles and Prince William, who adjusted his schedule to support Kate. Edward’s willingness to step into the spotlight and fulfill his responsibilities as the Duke of Edinburgh has been welcomed by royal fans. His public appearances alongside Sophie have been well-received, showcasing their ability to represent the royal family in various events. The couple previously stood in for the king at a historic military event at Buckingham Palace, demonstrating their readiness to take on more prominent roles within the monarchy.

Despite the disappointment of not being recognized in the recent royal appointments, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie remain dedicated and loyal members of the royal family. They continue to support the king and fulfill their royal duties with grace and professionalism. Edward’s willingness to step up and lead important ceremonies, such as the Anzac Day tribute, reflects his growth and maturity within the royal household. As Edward continues to take on new responsibilities and demonstrate his capabilities, he is proving himself as a valuable asset to the royal family and a trusted supporter of the future king and queen.
