Former President Donald Trump is facing investigation in Michigan as an unindicted co-conspirator in the state attorney general’s probe into attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Other individuals named as unindicted co-conspirators include Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and Jenna Ellis. The investigation also involves fake Republican electors from Michigan who have been charged by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Pro-Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro, who played a key role in the fake electors scheme, was interviewed by investigators in December. The Trump campaign allegedly had a seven-state plan to subvert the Electoral College process and prosecutors in multiple states have taken action against fake electors.
In Arizona, a grand jury has indicted Trump’s allies, including individuals connected to his campaign and fake electors, for efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump is not among those charged in Arizona but is referred to as “Unindicted Coconspirator 1” in the indictment. State prosecutors in Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada have brought charges against some fake electors, while investigations are ongoing in other states. Prosecutors in New Mexico and Pennsylvania have decided not to pursue charges in similar cases.
