The ski trial originated as a civil lawsuit filed by Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, accusing Paltrow of colliding with him while skiing in 2016. Paltrow countersued for $1, claiming it was Sanderson who collided with her. The trial lasted over a week and became a pop culture phenomenon, ultimately resulting in the jury ruling in favor of Paltrow, finding her not at fault for the collision.
