Caitlin Clark bid farewell to her fans at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City after Iowa’s win over West Virginia in the women’s NCAA Tournament. She expressed gratitude for the support she has received throughout her career, recognizing the fans for their unwavering dedication to women’s athletics. Despite facing physical defense from West Virginia, Clark scored 32 points in the game, solidifying her status as the NCAA Division I all-time scoring leader. Among the notable attendees at the game were Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman and NFL star George Kittle.

Clark’s parents, who have been a constant presence at her games, were also in attendance to support her. Her dad, Brent, has been known for his visible reactions during games, while her mom, Anne, stood by with a smile. Fans of all ages turned out to show their support for Clark, wearing her jersey and holding signs in her honor. Clark expressed appreciation for her family’s unwavering support and motivation throughout her journey as a basketball player.

Clark’s rise to stardom at Carver-Hawkeye Arena began in November 2020, when her career took off with a standout performance against Northern Iowa. As her scoring records continued to grow, so did the crowds at her games. Every home game this season has sold out, with fans flocking to witness Clark’s historic achievements on the court. She broke records for both all-time scoring in Division I women’s basketball and NCAA Division I overall, showcasing her dominance at the collegiate level.

Heading into the Sweet 16 game against Colorado in Albany, Clark reflects on her journey and the impact of playing at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. She acknowledges the emotional weight of leaving the court after her final home game, but remains focused on the task at hand. Despite the challenges she has faced throughout her career, Clark’s resilience and dedication to the game have solidified her legacy as one of the greatest athletes to come out of Iowa. As she prepares to continue her quest for a championship, she remains grateful for the support of her fans, family, and teammates.
