A 14-year-old boy is accused of murdering 15-year-old Alfie Lewis outside a primary school in Leeds using a knife. Witnesses saw the stabbing, with Alfie being approached by the defendant, who allegedly stabbed him twice, leading to his death. The defendant fled the scene, dropping the murder weapon near the school. The court heard that the fatal injury was a deep wound to Alfie’s chest that punctured his heart. Although the defendant admitted to possessing the knife, he claims he was acting in self-defense.

Post-mortem examination showed that Alfie sustained a deep stab wound to the chest that punctured his heart. Witnesses recall hearing Alfie express surprise and shock, asking the defendant what he was doing. None of the witnesses saw Alfie being aggressive, with some describing him trying to defend himself against the defendant’s knife. The jury heard that the defendant had brought a kitchen knife from his home near the school where the incident occurred. Despite admitting to having the knife, the defendant claims self-defense.

The prosecutor informed the court that none of the witnesses suggest Alfie was the aggressor in the situation. Rather, witnesses describe the defendant delivering deliberate blows to Alfie with the knife. The defendant denies the charge of murdering Alfie and maintains that he was acting in self-defense. The jury, composed of seven women and five men, heard how Alfie was stabbed in full view of school pupils and parents waiting to collect their children. The prosecutor emphasized that none of the witnesses saw Alfie being aggressive before the incident.

Flowers and tributes were left at the scene of the tragic incident where Alfie collapsed and died. The court was told that several witnesses recalled Alfie’s evident shock and surprise as the defendant approached him with the knife. Despite the defendant admitting to possessing the murder weapon, he claims that he was acting in self-defense throughout the altercation. The trial continues as the defendant, sitting alongside his father in court, denies the charge of murdering Alfie and claims his actions were in self-defense. The tragic incident occurred just before 3pm on November 7, 2023, outside a primary school in Leeds.
