RFK Jr’s VP selection could give him a boost in his presidential campaign effort

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of the nation’s most storied political dynasty and a high-profile vaccine skeptic, is set to announce his running mate in his bid for the presidency as an independent candidate. The move is expected to garner significant media attention for Kennedy and will be crucial for him to qualify for the presidential ballot in all 50 states. With just over seven months until the election, Kennedy has so far secured a spot on the ballot in only one state, Utah, but plans to make weekly announcements about his ballot access efforts.

While Kennedy is confident he will meet his ballot access goals, the process is expensive and time-consuming for independent candidates. However, Kennedy has also been in talks with the Libertarian Party about possibly running on their ticket in November. The party, which has achieved ballot access in all 50 states in previous elections, will choose its presidential nominee at their convention in late May in Washington, D.C. Kennedy’s appearances at Libertarian events have garnered support from some delegates, but his policy differences, such as his support for Israel in the Gaza conflict, may be potential obstacles.

Kennedy’s appeal to Libertarian Party members lies in his vocal opposition to vaccine mandates and government intervention during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, his differing views on issues like foreign policy may be a sticking point for some delegates at the party’s national convention. Despite his media attention and appeal to Libertarians, Kennedy faces competition from over a dozen other candidates vying for the party’s nomination. Kennedy’s campaign is leaving all options open, but securing the Libertarian Party nomination could dramatically increase his chances of appearing on the ballot in all 50 states.

Kennedy’s choice of running mate is expected to significantly boost his campaign and increase his visibility on the national stage. As an environmental activist and member of a prominent political family, Kennedy has drawn support from various quarters, including those wary of government mandates and interventions. His campaign’s efforts to secure ballot access in multiple states will require sustained resources and effort, but partnering with the Libertarian Party could streamline the process and expand his reach across the country.

As the election approaches, Kennedy faces multiple challenges in ensuring his presence on the ballot across all 50 states. While his independent candidacy has generated considerable attention and interest, particularly among Libertarians, his policy differences with the party could present obstacles to securing their nomination. However, with continued efforts and strategic alliances, Kennedy’s campaign aims to overcome these challenges and present a viable alternative to mainstream candidates in the upcoming election. Stay tuned for more updates on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign and his quest for the presidency in 2024.
