FBI is concerned that Fauci-funded virus research at Wuhan lab showed no evidence of human manipulation

The FBI was alerted in April 2020 about gain-of-function virus research in China that was funded by the agency once headed by Dr. Anthony Fauci. The research was designed to hide any evidence of deliberate human manipulation in the resulting virus. FBI agents referred to the revelation as “alarming” and pledged to further investigate the matter.

Judicial Watch obtained five pages of emails through a Freedom of Information Act request that revealed the FBI’s understanding of the funding of gain-of-function research by Fauci’s agency. The organization’s president, Tom Fitton, called the documents a “smoking gun” that showed the FBI’s recognition of the potential deception in the research. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive criminal investigation into Fauci’s involvement in the scandal.

In an email exchange from April 2020, specific details about the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases grant to EcoHealth Alliance for bat coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology were shared with several FBI officials. The grant included an “infectious clone technology” proposal that could disguise the virus as natural without any signs of human manipulation. The individual passing along the information had previously been interviewed by FBI agents and translated complex project details into layman’s terms for better understanding.

The emails obtained by Judicial Watch also revealed that the FBI had opened an inquiry into the bat coronavirus grant linked to the Wuhan Institute of Virology around May 2020. The FBI concluded that an accidental lab leak was the most likely explanation for the COVID-19 pandemic, with FBI Director Christopher Wray stating that a potential lab incident in Wuhan was the origins of the pandemic. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The FBI’s recognition of the gain-of-function research funding and potential lab incident in Wuhan raises concerns about the transparency and accountability of scientific research involving dangerous pathogens. The involvement of Fauci’s agency in funding such research, which may have led to the COVID-19 pandemic, underscores the need for a thorough investigation into the origins of the virus. The emails obtained by Judicial Watch shed light on the FBI’s understanding of the situation and its efforts to follow up on the information provided in April 2020.

The Post reached out to EcoHealth Alliance for comment on the situation, but there has been no response yet. The controversy surrounding gain-of-function research, the potential lab leak in Wuhan, and the role of Fauci’s agency in funding such research continue to fuel the need for accountability and transparency in scientific endeavors involving dangerous pathogens. The FBI’s involvement, investigations, and assessments into the pandemic’s origins reflect the ongoing efforts to uncover the truth behind the COVID-19 crisis.
