Poll finds growing concern over climate change, but skepticism over effectiveness of Biden’s climate law

The concern about climate change is growing among Americans, with 45% saying they have become more worried about it over the past year. President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, aimed at addressing climate change, has provided benefits to some Americans, such as tax credits for renewable energy projects and incentives for electric vehicles. However, the law is not widely known among the general population, and many people do not believe it will have a significant impact on addressing climate change. Still, Biden has an advantage over former President Trump when it comes to trust on climate change issues.

While some Americans, especially Democrats, have benefited from the provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act, many others are not aware of or feel unaffected by the incentives for clean energy technologies. A significant number of Americans believe that the federal government is not doing enough to address climate change and support the idea of investing in new environmentally friendly technologies. However, the public’s perception of the impact of the IRA on the U.S. economy is mixed, with some believing it has helped while others think it has hurt the economy. Overall, there is a wide consensus on the importance of government support for climate solutions and stricter environmental regulations.

Despite the lack of awareness and confidence in the IRA’s effectiveness in addressing climate change, President Biden still maintains a higher level of trust on climate change issues compared to former President Trump. While Biden’s focus on electric vehicles and renewable energy has received some support, there is a general sense that more needs to be done at the government level to combat climate change. Many Americans believe that big corporations should also take responsibility for environmental protection, in addition to individual efforts like energy conservation and recycling.

The poll results show a diversity of opinions among Americans regarding the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act and government’s role in addressing climate change. While some see positive outcomes from the incentives for clean energy, others are skeptical about the law’s ability to make a substantial difference. The public generally agrees on the importance of government action to support environmental initiatives and regulate harmful technologies. Moving forward, there is a call for increased investment in environmentally friendly technologies and stricter environmental laws to combat the threat of climate change.
