Los Angeles is facing a shortage of police officers, affecting their ability to respond to non-emergency calls. LAPD Interim Police Chief Dominic Choi notes that while emergency calls have not been impacted, response times for non-emergency situations have increased. This shortage is not unique to Los Angeles, as many cities across the country are struggling with similar issues.

In other news, an NBA player has been banned for life due to gambling. This serves as a reminder of the strict rules and consequences that professional athletes face when it comes to sports betting. Additionally, preparations are underway in Paris for the upcoming Summer Olympics, with only 100 days to go until the games begin.

In a separate development, a massive settlement between the Justice Department and victims of abuse by Larry Nassar is reportedly nearing completion. This settlement will provide some measure of justice and compensation for the survivors of Nassar’s abuse. Meanwhile, the Senate has dismissed impeachment charges against Mayorkas, and President Biden is calling for higher tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum imports.

Boeing whistleblowers have recently appeared at a congressional hearing, raising concerns about production flaws in the 787 Dreamliner fleet. Another whistleblower has stated that the global 787 fleet requires attention to address these issues. On a different note, the University of Southern California has canceled the commencement speech by their class valedictorian, and two bodies found in Oklahoma are believed to be missing Kansas women.

Amidst all these developments, Los Angeles is one of many cities facing challenges with police officer shortages, impacting their ability to respond effectively to non-emergency calls. The NBA player banned for life for gambling serves as a cautionary tale for professional athletes, highlighting the consequences of engaging in prohibited activities. As Paris gears up for the Summer Olympics, preparations are intensifying with only 100 days remaining until the start of the prestigious sporting event. The reported nearing settlement between the Justice Department and Nassar abuse victims is a step towards justice and restitution for those impacted by his actions.
