Brinc introduces a new, streamlined ‘LiveOps’ software for public safety missions

Brinc, a public safety technology company based in Seattle, recently announced the launch of a new software platform called LiveOps. This software is designed to manage and monitor drone fleets, providing a range of features such as live streaming, real-time maps, communications, and evidence storage. With this new platform, Brinc is expanding its offerings beyond just drone pilots to include crisis negotiations specialists, command staff, and other emergency response team members. LiveOps offers individual feeds for each team member, separate from what the drone operator is seeing during an incident.

One key component of LiveOps is the inclusion of evidence storage and management, which puts Brinc in direct competition with Axon, a company known for its body cameras and Tasers. Axon’s Evidence.com platform is widely used by police, and Brinc’s move to offer a similar service signals their intention to target the same market. LiveOps will be provided as part of Brinc’s core offering to public safety agencies, along with unlimited repair and replacement services, training, and hardware upgrades. However, details on pricing for the software were not disclosed by the company.

Brinc’s drones, such as the Lemur 2 model, are designed to assist first responders in dangerous situations. These drones have a range of capabilities, including breaking through glass, flipping after a crash, night vision, and communication through a microphone. The company also offers the Brinc Ball, a two-way communications device that can be utilized during standoffs. Founded in 2019 and based in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, Brinc has raised over $80 million in total funding from investors such as Index Ventures, Tusk Venture Partners, and Next Play Ventures, founded by former LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was also an early investor in the company.

The development of LiveOps signals Brinc’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for public safety agencies, beyond just drone technology. By integrating live streaming, real-time maps, communication tools, and evidence storage into a single platform, Brinc aims to streamline operations for emergency responders and crisis negotiation specialists. The software’s features, such as separate feeds for team members and evidence management capabilities, set it apart from other solutions in the market, potentially posing a challenge to established players like Axon.

With LiveOps, Brinc is positioning itself as a key player in the public safety technology market, offering a one-stop solution for managing and monitoring drone fleets in emergency situations. The platform’s browser-based interface makes it accessible to a wide range of users, including drone operators, crisis negotiators, and command staff. Additionally, Brinc’s track record of innovation and its strong backing from prominent investors indicate that the company is well-positioned to establish a strong presence in the rapidly evolving field of public safety technology.

Overall, Brinc’s LiveOps software represents a significant step forward for the company in expanding its offerings and capabilities. By providing a comprehensive solution for managing drone fleets and supporting emergency response teams, Brinc is poised to make a meaningful impact in the public safety technology sector. With its cutting-edge features and focus on improving operational efficiency for first responders, LiveOps has the potential to revolutionize the way emergency incidents are managed and monitored, ultimately enhancing public safety outcomes in communities around the world.
