Emin Batmaz, a father of two, won the muhtar race in Gokceoren Mahallesi, where three candidates ran in the Local Administrations General Elections on March 31st, receiving 96 votes. However, tragedy struck just two hours before the scheduled certificate ceremony at the Sumbullu Bahce Mansion in the town center, as Batmaz suffered a heart attack. Despite efforts to save him, Batmaz passed away. Today, a funeral ceremony was held in the neighborhood at noon to honor his memory.
The funeral of Batmaz took place at the Gokceoren Mosque, where prayers were offered by his family and loved ones, as well as by Osmangazi District Governor Ali Partal, Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydin, and members of the community. Following the prayers, Batmaz was laid to rest in the neighborhood cemetery. His sudden and untimely death has deeply saddened the residents of Gokceoren Mahallesi, who mourn the loss of a devoted community leader.
Ali Bayram, one of the muhtar assistants, expressed his shock at Batmaz’s sudden passing, mentioning that he had no prior health issues. Bayram recounted how Batmaz suffered the heart attack while preparing to drop his daughter off at school at 9:00 am, just two hours before the certificate ceremony at 11:00 am. Despite the efforts of villagers to rush him to the hospital, Batmaz could not be saved. Another muhtar assistant, Vesile Kocyigit, also shared her sorrow at the loss of their colleague. She emphasized the deep bond they shared with Batmaz, stating that they will strive to carry on his vision and continue their work together. Kocyigit expressed their determination to fill the void left by Batmaz and continue their mission to make a positive impact, despite their heavy hearts. The entire community, along with their team, mourns the loss of a dedicated leader and a dear friend.
