Coast Guard teams detected a group of illegal immigrants in a rubber boat with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) off the coast of Foça district yesterday morning at 08.00.
Coast Guard teams, who moved to the region, captured 43 immigrants, including 5 children, in the rubber boat through an operation.
On the same day at 12.00, 14 irregular immigrants, including 1 child, identified in a rubber boat off the coast of the district were also captured by Coast Guard teams.
Following a joint follow-up and investigation conducted with the Foça District Security Directorate affiliated to the Coast Guard Command and Izmir Provincial Security Directorate, 5 immigrant smuggler suspects were also taken into custody.
The captured illegal immigrants were taken ashore and sent to the Provincial Immigration Administration Directorate after the procedures.
