Neuron has launched a pilot program for e-scooters in Saskatoon for the second year, offering residents a city-specific online training course and free credits to refresh their knowledge of road rules for e-scooters. The pilot project began in May 2023, and within the first month, 100,000 kilometres were logged. Ankush Karwal, general manager of Neuron Mobility Canada, expressed excitement about being back in Saskatoon, noting that residents and visitors were using the e-scooters to explore the city and visit local businesses and attractions. The demographic of e-scooter riders in Saskatoon includes 45% aged 16-24, 27% aged 25-34, 18% aged 35-44, and 10% aged 45 or older.

Neuron also provided safety tips for riders in Saskatoon, emphasizing that riders must be at least 16 years old, with consent required from a parent or legal guardian for those under 18. Helmets are mandatory for all riders, and e-scooters can be ridden on bike lanes, multi-use trails, pathways, and streets with a speed limit of 50 km/h or lower. Riding on sidewalks is prohibited, and only one rider is allowed per e-scooter with no tandem riding. Riders should maintain a safe distance from pedestrians and give way to mobility devices like wheelchairs, avoid riding under the influence, remove earphones, and follow local parking guidelines.

The e-scooter pilot program in Saskatoon has proven to be successful, with a high volume of kilometres logged within the first month of its launch. Neuron Mobility Canada has expressed satisfaction with the response from residents and visitors in the city, highlighting the positive impact on local businesses and attractions. The demographic breakdown of e-scooter riders reveals a diverse range of age groups, with a significant portion falling within the 16-24 age range, indicating broad usage across different demographics within the community.

Neuron’s focus on safety for e-scooter riders is an essential aspect of their operations in Saskatoon, with specific guidelines and regulations in place to ensure the well-being of both riders and pedestrians. By providing safety tips such as mandatory helmet use, age restrictions, and prohibited activities like riding under the influence, Neuron aims to promote responsible riding behavior among users. The emphasis on following local parking guidelines and maintaining a safe distance from pedestrians further enhances the safety measures implemented by Neuron to create a secure environment for e-scooter riders in Saskatoon.

As Neuron continues its e-scooter pilot program in Saskatoon, it is essential for riders to adhere to the safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company to prevent any accidents or incidents on the road. By promoting responsible and informed riding habits, Neuron aims to create a sustainable and safe e-scooter environment for residents and visitors in Saskatoon. The success of the pilot program thus far indicates a positive reception from the community, with a significant number of riders taking advantage of the e-scooters to explore the city and support local businesses and attractions.
