Insider Secrets from My 3+ Years at Disney World: Answers to 8 Commonly Avoided Guest Questions

Working at Disney World for three years provided me with firsthand knowledge of the property’s constantly changing and expanding nature, with the company investing $60 billion in global theme parks and cruise lines. Guests often have questions, even if they are not first-time visitors. Some commonly unasked questions that I addressed include tips for visiting Universal Studios, where it is perfectly acceptable to ask park employees for recommendations about the nearby theme parks, and whether new rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure are worth the long wait times they often attract.

The transition from the old free FastPass system to the paid Genie+ service at Disney World can be confusing for guests, with Lightning Lanes offering expedited access to certain attractions. Understanding the differences between Genie+ and Lightning Lane can be daunting, but park employees are available to answer any questions and help with reservations as needed. Similarly, guests can obtain celebratory buttons for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries by simply asking an employee, adding an extra touch of magic to their visit.

While the Disney parks feature many attractions geared towards children, adults are encouraged to interact and take pictures with characters throughout the parks. Meet and greets with Disney characters can be some of the most memorable park experiences, providing an opportunity to play along with the characters’ antics. For guests who do not enjoy roller coasters, there are plenty of milder rides, parades, shows, and nighttime spectaculars to enjoy. Disney World offers a range of activities to suit all preferences, ensuring a fun and immersive experience for every visitor.

Losing items at Disney World is a common occurrence, but there are procedures in place to help guests retrieve their belongings. If an item is lost on a ride or in the park, employees are trained to collect and deliver lost items to guest relations. Visitors who have lost something should report it at the nearest guest relations office, where they can fill out a request form and be contacted if the item is found. Additionally, asking employees for recommendations on activities, restaurants, and shows can help guests make the most of their Disney World visit. Employees are knowledgeable about the area and can offer valuable tips for an unforgettable experience.
