“We wanted everyone to feel like they were going to Studio 54 in the ’70s. I had a sequined jumpsuit made by my friend Mariana Valentina and people went all out. My husband, Brian, wore this incredible green tuxedo with flared pants. We wanted people to incorporate sequins, disco ball tones, metallics—things of that nature. Everyone really leaned into it and looked amazing. They felt like they were part of something special and they got to show off their personalities. We actually had a friend who showed up in a full disco suit that lit up. It was hilarious. The dress code added this extra layer of fun and really set the tone for the entire day. People knew what to expect, and it made the whole event feel cohesive and unique.”Liz HartmanDress Code: Fashion-forward“Our dress code was ‘fashion-forward,’ which meant wear something that you feel your best in. My husband, Dylan, and I are both really into fashion, and we wanted all of our guests to feel like they could express themselves in their own way. We didn’t want to limit anyone to a specific color or style, we just wanted them to feel confident and chic. We had some friends show up in traditional suits and ties, while others wore funky patterns and bright colors. It was really interesting to see how people interpreted the dress code and made it their own. I loved that it sparked conversations and made people feel comfortable and stylish. Our wedding felt like a celebration of everyone’s individuality and personal style, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”In conclusion, as weddings become more personalized and unique, couples are turning to creative dress codes to add an extra layer of fun and excitement to their big day. Instead of sticking to traditional dress codes, couples are opting for themes and styles that reflect their personalities and preferences, creating a more cohesive and memorable event for everyone involved. Embracing unique dress codes can help guests feel more involved and excited about the celebration, while also adding a special touch to the photos and memories created on that special day. Dress codes like monochromatic, dressed-up meets dressed-down, disco formal, and fashion-forward are just a few examples of how couples are redefining the traditional wedding attire rules and making their day truly one-of-a-kind. Ultimately, the decision to choose a non-traditional dress code can make a wedding more fun, unique, and memorable for everyone involved, showcasing the couple’s creativity and individuality in a way that is reflective of who they are as a couple and what they value in their relationship.
