Seattle Public Schools (SPS) recently introduced new software from MagicSchool AI, a company that provides generative AI tools to assist teachers in creating lesson plans and student feedback. The company, founded by former principal and teacher Adeel Khan, is already used by over 2,500 school and district partners, offering more than 60 tools powered by AI models from various sources.

MagicSchool offers a chatbot named Raina that can answer questions related to instructional approaches and behavior management for both teachers and students. While initial concerns about AI tools being used for plagiarism and cheating have been raised, recent research suggests that these worries are not materializing. SPS made ChatGPT available for students this past fall, emphasizing access to transformative technology while still advising caution due to privacy and access concerns.
