The Manitoba government has announced that provincial park pass and camping fees will remain frozen this season. This decision comes after the province signed a contract with an American-based service provider to administer the park pass program in 2020, with scheduled fee increases. However, with $46 million allocated to the budget for this year, fee hikes will not be necessary according to environment and climate change minister, Tracy Schmidt. In addition to the frozen fees, the province also offers free entry to provincial parks on certain dates throughout the year, including June 7 to 9, July 15 to 21, and Aug. 30 to Sept. 2. In addition, from Feb. 1 to 28, park entry will be free for attendees. More information about provincial park fees can be found on the Manitoba government’s website.

The decision to freeze provincial park pass and camping fees for the season comes as welcome news to residents and visitors in Manitoba. With the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on travel and recreation, many people are looking for affordable ways to enjoy the outdoors. By keeping fees frozen and offering free entry on certain dates throughout the year, the province is providing opportunities for individuals and families to access and enjoy the natural beauty of provincial parks without breaking the bank. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to supporting outdoor recreation and conservation efforts in Manitoba.

The province’s decision to allocate $46 million in the 2024 budget to cover park pass fees demonstrates a commitment to making outdoor recreation accessible to all residents. By investing in the administration of the park pass program, the government is ensuring that individuals have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of spending time in nature. This investment not only supports the tourism industry in Manitoba but also promotes physical and mental well-being among residents by encouraging outdoor activities. The decision to freeze fees is a positive step towards ensuring that provincial parks remain accessible and affordable for everyone.

In addition to maintaining frozen fees, the province also offers free entry to provincial parks on designated dates throughout the year. This initiative provides an opportunity for individuals and families to explore the natural beauty of Manitoba’s parks without incurring any costs. By offering free park entry on specific dates, the government is promoting outdoor recreation and encouraging residents to take advantage of the recreational opportunities available in provincial parks. This not only benefits individuals and families but also supports the local economy by attracting visitors to the province’s parks and campgrounds.

Overall, the decision to freeze provincial park pass and camping fees for the season, along with offering free entry on certain dates, reflects the government’s commitment to supporting outdoor recreation and conservation efforts in Manitoba. By making provincial parks more accessible and affordable, the government is providing opportunities for residents and visitors to explore the natural beauty of the province and engage in outdoor activities. This initiative aligns with the government’s goals of promoting physical and mental well-being, supporting the tourism industry, and conserving natural resources. Residents and visitors alike can benefit from these initiatives, enjoying the many recreational opportunities available in Manitoba’s provincial parks.
