The District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate of Hasankeyf has successfully applied to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office for geographical indication and traditional product status for the “mehina garlic.” According to a statement from Hasankeyf District Governorship, Governor Mehmet Ali İmrak expressed his happiness at the registration of this unique local flavor.
Governor İmrak stated, “We are pleased that the unique taste and flavor of our Hasankeyf mehina garlic has been registered with TURKPATENT. Congratulations to our district. Hasankeyf has a deep history and cultural richness. It is our duty to preserve this.”
İmrak also thanked Governor Ekrem Canalp and everyone who supported the project during the registration process for the garlic. He emphasized that the registration process for other products specific to the district will continue.
