Liverpool and Manchester United played to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, with Liverpool starting slowly but roaring back in the second half. They missed several chances in the first half, with Luis Diaz scoring the opening goal. However, United managed to equalize with Bruno Fernandes scoring from range, followed by Kobbie Mainoo’s goal to take the lead. Liverpool eventually equalized through Mohamed Salah’s penalty, but were unable to secure a win despite recording 28 shots on goal. Both Jurgen Klopp and Jamie Carragher expressed frustration over Liverpool’s wastefulness in front of goal, feeling that they should have won the game.

Klopp and Carragher both lamented Liverpool’s missed chances in the first period, feeling that they only had themselves to blame for not taking their opportunities. Carragher believed that Liverpool should have finished the game off earlier, as they did in the FA Cup tie. Klopp acknowledged that Liverpool should have won the game, especially considering their dominance in the first half. He praised Bruno Fernandes’s goal but felt that his team had numerous chances to score both before and after United’s goals. Despite the result, Klopp felt that Liverpool had one more point than they did before and emphasized the importance of remaining calm in their upcoming games.

United goalkeeper Andre Onana put in a strong performance in the first half, making important saves to keep his team in the game. Klopp highlighted Onana’s save from Dominik Szoboszlai as a crucial moment, while also acknowledging that Liverpool were sometimes too hasty in front of goal. He expressed a desire for his team to be calmer in their approach and to take an extra touch when necessary. With upcoming fixtures in the Europa League and against Crystal Palace, Klopp emphasized the need for composure and highlighted the busy schedule ahead. Despite not being completely satisfied with the result, Klopp acknowledged the importance of the upcoming games and the need for improvement in finishing.

The draw at Old Trafford raised questions about whether Liverpool would rue the missed chances in the title race. Carragher believed that it was two points dropped, echoing his sentiments from previous matches. Klopp, on the other hand, did not see it as dropped points but emphasized the need to capitalize on opportunities. He acknowledged that United put in extra effort against Liverpool, a challenge they will face again in future matches. The result left Liverpool trailing behind league leaders Arsenal on goal difference, adding more pressure on the team to be clinical in front of goal. Both Klopp and Carragher will be hoping for improved performances in their upcoming fixtures to stay in contention for the title.
