The transformation of an opera singer into the NBA’s fashionable sensation with basketball jersey ball gowns

Radmila Lolly, a 37-year-old opera singer, composer, and designer, has made a name for herself as a courtside fashion icon. She has become a fixture at NBA games by transforming oversized jerseys into elegant ball gowns. Lolly began creating custom pieces for her performances and decided to make her own unique designs to wear to basketball games. Her unique style caught the attention of fans and went viral when she wore a custom-made gown created from Miami Heat forward Duncan Robinson’s jersey to an Eastern Conference semifinals game in 2022.

After gaining recognition for her jersey-inspired looks, Lolly partnered with the Miami Heat to sell her collection of unique designs. Her creations, priced from $250 to $490, have garnered attention and admiration. She is currently working on a playoff collection and has expanded her designs to include logos from other NBA teams such as the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers. Lolly has also created a University of Miami-inspired collection sold at the Hurricanes team store, showcasing her versatility and creativity.

Although Lolly had no previous interest in the NBA when she first moved to Miami, she began to stand out while singing the national anthem at halftime shows. She saw an opportunity to showcase her fashion on the basketball court and began deconstructing oversized player jerseys to create her signature looks. With a contract with the Miami Heat, Lolly is now able to sell her designs at the Kaseya Center. Her designs offer versatility, with each piece able to be worn in a variety of ways, such as transforming from a gown to pants or a romper.

Lolly’s journey to becoming a fashion icon began at a young age, as she started sewing clothes for her dolls. She also began vocal training as a teenager and released her debut album, “IV Stories at the Standard Hotel,” in 2016. That same year, her clothing collection debuted at Fashion For Peace’s “World Fashion Parade” at Gotham Hall. Her unique designs have been worn by celebrities like Gayle King, Nicole Ari Parker, and Bebe Rexha. Lolly has performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall with the Grammy-winning Scorchio Quartet, but she views her fashion career as equally important to her music career.

The opera singer turned designer continues to push boundaries with her innovative designs, combining her love for music and fashion into a successful career. Lolly’s ability to reimagine fan fashion by repurposing sports jerseys into elegant gowns has earned her a loyal following and recognition as a trendsetter in the industry. Through her collaborations with NBA teams and her unique runway shows at basketball games, Lolly has carved out a niche for herself in the competitive world of fashion and entertainment. Her dedication to her craft and willingness to take risks have set her apart and solidified her as the MVP of courtside fashion.
