Josh Allen allegedly yelled at Stefon Diggs after Week 1 defeat: ‘It’s just one game’

The Buffalo Bills surprised the NFL offseason by trading All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in exchange for draft compensation. Rumors of tension between Diggs and quarterback Josh Allen had been circulating for some time, with reports of a particular incident following a Week 1 loss to the New York Jets. After the game, Diggs approached Allen in his locker to offer support, but Allen responded negatively, dismissing Diggs’ attempts at comfort. Despite the reported tension, Diggs had a strong start to the season, with over 800 yards on 70 receptions and seven touchdowns in the first nine games.

However, Diggs’ production began to decline in the second half of the season, with only 37 receptions on 63 targets for 349 yards and one touchdown in the remaining eight games. Despite this, the Bills finished the season 7-3, including a wild-card round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. As the season came to a close, Diggs expressed uncertainty about his future with the team, telling reporters he would take it “day by day.” This uncertainty became reality as GM Brandon Beane made the decision to trade Diggs to the Texans for a 2025 second-round pick.

The decision to trade Diggs was described by Beane as a move that made sense in terms of value and timing for both teams. The Bills had been successful with a winning record while Diggs’ production declined, suggesting that the dynamic between Diggs and the team may not have been working as effectively as it appeared on the surface. As fans grapple with the departure of their star receiver, they are left to wonder about the implications of the trade for the team’s future and how they will move forward without Diggs. The trade marks a significant shift in the team dynamics and raises questions about the potential impact on the Bills’ performance in the upcoming season.

The reported tension between Diggs and Allen, coupled with Diggs’ declining production in the second half of the season, may have contributed to the decision to trade him. While Diggs had demonstrated his talent with impressive statistics in the first half of the season, the relationship between him and the team appeared to be strained. The trade to the Texans offers a new opportunity for Diggs to start fresh with a different team, while the Bills will need to adjust to his absence and find new ways to replace his production on the field. It remains to be seen how both teams will fare in the aftermath of this surprising offseason move.
