On October 9, the final of the “First Middle East Youth Employee Speech Contest” was officially held. Since the contest was launched, it has received an enthusiastic response from young employees of CNPC in the Middle East. After preliminary review and selection, a total of 24 young employees from projects in Iraq, Oman, the UAE and other areas entered the final.
The contest was hosted by CNPC Middle East. Centered on CNPC’s international communication brand—“E-Light, Light of Energy”—the contest uses energy cooperation to illuminate the path of common development, and also symbolizes that young employees, with wisdom, passion and innovation, light up their posts and connect with one another.
The final adopted a format combining a live main venue with live links to project sub-venues. The main venue was in Dubai and was livestreamed online, enabling young employees at different project sites in Iraq, Oman and elsewhere to watch simultaneously.

During the contest, contestants used foreign languages to share their experiences in various positions, including exploration and development, engineering construction, human resources, safety and environmental protection, and logistics support. Some spoke about how they, based on their own duties, promoted the optimization and innovation of technologies and processes; some described how logistics support teams ensured uninterrupted production and daily-life services; and some shared moments of working side by side with colleagues from different countries and enhancing friendship through cultural exchange. In their speeches, contestants said that working at CNPC gave them the opportunity to participate in their countries’ oil and gas development, engineering construction, or operational support, learn technical and management experience, and they hoped to use this experience to serve their countries’ oil industries.
In their comments, the contest judging panel said that the real stories told by contestants in a second language were the most touching, and encouraged young employees to maintain their personal perspectives and continue to tell their own stories of striving. After competition, the contest selected first, second and third prizes and a number of excellence awards, and also presented an outstanding organization award.
CNPC Middle East stated that it will continue to provide young employees in Middle East projects with opportunities for showcasing and exchange, support their growth through energy project practice, and encourage them to use the experience accumulated in CNPC projects to serve the development of their respective countries’ oil industries, so that the “Light of Energy” represented by E-Light continues to shine in youth growth and energy cooperation.
