Summarize this content to 2000 words in 6 paragraphs Formula 1 broadcaster Will Buxton has criticized Red Bull for the way it parted ways with Liam Lawson for Yuki Tsunoda after just two races of the 2025 season. Buxton pointed out Red Bull’s supposed “fast and loose” moves with driver careers and called Lawson’s replacement move a “new low.”Newsweek Sports reported the breaking news earlier today that Tsunoda will be taking Lawson’s seat alongside Max Verstappen from the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, while Lawson will re-occupy the seat at Red Bull’s junior F1 team Racing Bulls, replacing Tsunoda.Lawson, who replaced Sergio Perez at Red Bull after the 2024 season, was expected to finish races within the points this year so the team could remain in the race for the Constructors’ Championship. However, failing to do so in the first two races reportedly led to the decision to swap Lawson with Tsunoda.

His qualifying performance was also under scrutiny, considering he qualified last during the Chinese GP weekend. The 23-year-old admitted that it was challenging to adapt to the RB21 F1 car that was suited to Verstappen’s driving style. Tsunoda becomes the third driver in the last six months to partner with Verstappen at Red Bull.Buxton called out Red Bull for replacing drivers so quickly by quoting Red Bull team principal Christian Horner’s words from his statement today. He wrote on X:”Red Bull’s talk of their “duty of care” is laughable. You either believe in the driver you’ve signed and give them support or you don’t. They’ve played fast and loose with driver careers for decades but this is a new low. 2 races is insane. Good luck Yuki. You’re gonna need it.”Red Bull’s talk of their “duty of care” is laughable. Horner termed the driver swap as a “sporting decision.” He said:”It has been difficult to see Liam struggle with the RB21 at the first two races and as a result we have collectively taken the decision to make an early switch. We came into the 2025 season, with two ambitions, to retain the world drivers’ championship and to reclaim the world constructors’ title and this is a purely sporting decision.”We acknowledge there is a lot of work to be done with the RB21 and Yuki’s experience will prove highly beneficial in helping to develop the current car. We welcome him to the team and are looking forward to seeing him behind the wheel of the RB21.”We have a duty of care to protect and develop Liam and together, we see that after such a difficult start, it makes sense to act quickly so Liam can gain experience, as he continues his F1 career with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, an environment and a team he knows very well.”
