Summarize this content to 2000 words in 6 paragraphs A scaffolder said he witnessed a couple in their late 50s or 60s close to where the baby was found with the man appearing to tie a bag as a woman told him ‘come on’21:15, 26 Mar 2025Updated 21:16, 26 Mar 2025Tributes outside All Saints’ Church in Notting Hill, west London(Image: PA)A couple were spotted “trying to tie a bag” close to a wheelie bin after the body of a baby boy was found outside a Notting Hill church.A council refuse worker made the discovery after finding the black bag with avocados on it outside All Saints’ Church in Notting Hill in west London on Tuesday afternoon. The Metropolitan Police today reiterated calls for the mum, who is believed to have recently given birth, to come forward “for her welfare and health”. Superintendent Owen Renowden described the discovery as “tragic” in a heartfelt statement made outside the church this morning.Police are calling for the mother to come forward(Image: PA)He added: “I want to praise that professionalism in particular of the local refuse worker and also the responding emergency services who I know will have been deeply affected by the incident yesterday. As shocking and tragic as this is, my priority remains with a mother’s welfare and health.”A scaffolder who worked close to the site, and did not want to be named, said he saw a couple in their late 50s or early 60s near a black grit bin by the church on Tuesday at about 10am.He added the man appeared to be attempting to tie a bag while a woman told him “come on” before they left together. The Met Police said officers were aware and were carrying out an investigation.A person leaves flowers outside All Saints’ Church in Notting Hill, west London(Image: PA)Marcia Haynes, the deputy church warden at All Saints’ and a local resident, said she had “never heard anything like this in my life” after the new-born’s body was found. She told reporters: “I came here to prepare for the foodbank and I just saw loads of police arriving and when I came out it was all taped over.”Ms Haynes said when she found out a baby had died: “It just freaked me out, and I just had to abandon what I was doing and go home because I thought I was going to be ill, to be honest. I’ve been here since 1966, I’ve never heard anything like this in my life. The baby was found near the Notting Hill church(Image: Getty Images)”Two women officers asked me if they could come in and search the church and I let them in, and they searched the toilets and all around the church. I presume they were looking for the mother in case she was hiding somewhere or something.”A small taped off area on Clydesdale Road remained on Wednesday morning. Flowers and a toy bunny were left by a tree close to where the police tent was on Tuesday night.A lit candle was left on a ledge outside the church, with a note that read: “God bless the little Baby x.” Mr Renowden appealed directly to the mother, saying: “We are really worried about her wellbeing…she will have recently given birth.”I know she will likely be feeling very frightened and going through an extremely difficult time. If you are the baby’s mother and you do see this today, I want to appeal directly to you to come forward and receive help.”
