Summarize this content to 2000 words in 6 paragraphs Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana’s future has come under scrutiny with the former Ajax star is drawing transfer interest ahead of the summer window despite a lengthy contract20:20, 26 Mar 2025Updated 20:20, 26 Mar 2025Ruben Amorim has supported Andre Onana(Image: DARREN STAPLES/AFP via Getty Images)Andre Onana is set to snub the chance to complete a transfer to the Saudi Pro League this summer, unless the club want to see him exit Old Trafford. And Ruben Amorim has already offered his verdict on his No.1.The former Ajax and Inter goalkeeper was seen as a landmark signing when he arrived at the club. The Cameroon international endured a difficult start to life in the Premier League with some error-strewn performances.Onana looked to have overcome them, but has seen criticism for his displays against the likes of Ipswich this term. Links to the Middle East have developed amid an inconsistent campaign. The summer will see Amorim’s first true opportunity to shape his squad after being limited to two signings in January. There has so far been no shortage of speculation over signing a goalkeeper but crucially it has been characterised as to bring additional competition for Onana.READ MORE: Aston Villa make Marcus Rashford transfer stance clear amid Man Utd uncertaintyREAD MORE: Jadon Sancho suffers fresh transfer blow as Man Utd and Chelsea saga rumbles onThird-choice shotstopper Tom Heaton is set to leave at the end of the current campaign, while back-up option Altay Bayindir faces questions over his future amid links to Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson earlier this season, and more recently Joan Garcia of Espanyol.Onana has three years remaining on his contract having signed for £47million. Nevertheless, it has been reported United have two goalkeepers under consideration to replace the 28-year-old.Amorim has previously provided supporter for his first choice goalkeeper however, and told him to look to the future. “I think he passed this (stage) in the last year,” the head coach said.“I don’t know for sure. There was some difficult moments. But this season he did some great saves that save our team and then sometimes has some problems. But that is normal and I think if you look through our team you can find a lot of players with that issue, so I think we are not performing so well as a team and sometimes some players have problems.Andre Onana had a difficult time against Ipswich Town(Image: OLI SCARFF/AFP)“People talk a lot about the second goal from Ipswich. He is waiting for the touch of (Liam) Delap. I think that is really clear, and then the ball continues to the goal, so that can happen.“We just have to support Andre, like we support all the players, and prepare the next game. Forget about the past and prepare the future.”Onana is not agitating to leave the club, but is expected to be targeted by the Saudi Pro League this summer. That could yet see United opt to cash in on the 28-year-old star, amid the Red Devils’ financial predicament, and then bring in a replacement.Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
