Summarize this content to 2000 words in 6 paragraphs Aaron Ashmore revealed that both he and his wife Zoe Kate had separated amid the pandemic – after tying the knot back in 2014. The Ginny & Georgia actor, 45 – whose twin brother is X-Men star Shawn Ashmore – opened up about the quiet separation on Tuesday’s episode of the Inside Of You podcast. At one point, host and Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum questioned Ashmore – who shares two daughters Esme and Margot with Kate – what the ‘toughest time’ in his life has been. ‘You know, COVID was a really tough time. We had a brand new baby, my dad got stuck home with a 3-year-old and a newborn,’ Aaron began. ‘And my dad got ill over that time period and passed away. ‘And then eight months after that, my wife and I decided to split up. So, there’s like two and a half years there that was like, I was grieving my dad and then my marriage dissolved and stuff,’ the star continued.’Things are great now, but there was a two and a half year period that was just like, the hits just kept coming, man.’  Aaron Ashmore, 45, revealed that both he and his wife Zoe Kate had separated amid the pandemic – after tying the knot back in 2014 At one point, host and Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum questioned Ashmore – who shares two daughters Esme and Margot with Kate – what the ‘toughest time’ in his life has beenA year leading up to the pair’s split, Ashore expressed that both he and Zoe had done couple’s therapy – and following the end of the marriage, he went to therapy on his own as well. ‘We were actually in therapy for our merit. My ex is a therapist so there was always a lot of encouragement to do therapy, and so we did.’He then further added,  ‘We did our due diligence with our relationship and our marriage. We were probably in therapy for a year before we ended up deciding that it wasn’t going to work.’And yes, I did do some therapy afterwards,’ Aaron said, before he talked about other ‘difficult times’ he went through. ‘I was pretty fine afterwards, but about a year and a half ago we had to sell the house – the house that I loved, our family house, where one of my kids was born. Like, all this sort of stuff. Just couldn’t afford to keep it.’Ashmore candidly shared that losing the home ‘sent me into a tailspin for a good three or four months. Like, I was depressed. ‘And it’s a weird thing, because like, it’s the house and I’m going to go be able to buy another house but it just represented something.’He continued, ‘It was the last thing that our marriage – the true end. You know, we did all this work on this house and whatever…and this is it. There’s nothing left.’  ‘And then eight months after that, my wife and I decided to split up. Secrets are revealed, changing Tanya and Laura’s relationship,’ per IMDB.   During his latest podcast interview on Tuesday, the actor also reflected on his career as well as his role in Smallville – and his exit from the series. At one point, the pair discussed how his character was killed off from the show and also when Ashmore learned that he was not playing Jimmy Olsen but instead his brother Henry James Olsen. ‘I don’t know… Literally, what they told me, was that because this wasn’t the actual Superman timeline, this canon that we all know, it’s slightly different,’ he explained. He later added, ‘So at first, I was bummed, because I’ve been doing all these interviews for three years.’ The star explained his excitement over the role but expressed, ‘Then all of a sudden, I don’t even get to freaking be Jimmy Olsen! I’ve been lying to people, I’ve been telling them this for years. Other television shows he has made appearances in over the years include Veronica Mars, In Plain Sight, Designated Survivor, Killjoys and also Locke & Key; seen above in Warehouse 13’I was disappointed, I didn’t like how they did it, because it just felt a bit of a cop-out. They didn’t tell me till the very end of the season, too.’Aaron added, ‘They could have told me at the beginning of the season, “Hey, this is what’s happening.” I don’t think it was a surprise, I don’t think they came up with this out of nowhere.’I think they knew that this was going to be the thing, but they told me the episode before, so this just feels like a s****y way to basically get fired, is through this bizarre, “Well…you are not really the [Jimmy Olsen.]”‘Ashmore further recalled, ‘I was like, “Okay, like what am I going to do?” But yeah, I was definitely a little disappointed.’
