The path from successful startup to big deal in the tech industry can be foreshadowed with one key prize at the GeekWire Awards: Next Tech Titan.
Five startups will be vying for the title in this category — which is presented by Baird — at our annual event next month. They are: Echodyne, Pulumi, Read AI, Statsig and Truveta.
The GeekWire Awards recognize the top innovators and companies in Pacific Northwest technology. Finalists in this category and others were selected based on community nominations, along with input from GeekWire Awards judges. Community voting across all categories will continue until March 23, combined with feedback from judges to determine the winner in each category.

Last year’s winner in this category was Zuper, the Seattle-based startup that provides field operations software to help companies manage workers across various industries, including cleaning, maintenance, and landscaping.

Echodyne is a next-generation radar platform company backed by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Founded in 2014, the Kirkland, Wash.-based startup is one of several spinouts from Intellectual Ventures. It makes use of metamaterials technology that allows it to build a flat-panel antenna that can be “steered” without moving parts. Echodyne raised $135 million in a 2022 funding round.
Pulumi helps developers build underlying cloud computing infrastructure using general purpose languages such as JavaScript and Python. A leader in the infrastructure-as-code market, Pulumi has more than 3,000 customers and raised $41 million in a 2023 funding round.
Read AI sells enterprise productivity software tools fueled by generative AI. Initially positioned as a tool to measure engagement and sentiment of participants on video meetings, Read can now analyze emails and messaging threads, in addition to video calls — and suggests action items based on its analysis of information shared across communication channels. The 3-year-old company announced a $50 million funding round last fall.
Statsig helps product teams test and evaluate new features, using live data from real customers, prior to launching them widely. Statsig views its approach as a major improvement over traditional A/B testing, giving product teams fine-tuned controls and the ability to conduct hundreds of experiments in parallel, with detailed analysis of outcomes based on the metrics of their choice. Statsig raised $43 million in 2022.
Truveta aims to aggregate medical records data from 30 partner institutions to link treatments with outcomes and underlying health. The Bellevue-based company describes its Truveta Genome Project as the “largest and most diverse database of genotypic and phenotypic information ever assembled.” Truveta raised $320 million in fresh funding earlier this year to push its valuation above $1 billion, making it the latest unicorn to emerge from the Seattle region.
