A young Mets fan had baseball fans in tears over the weekend after the crowd mic caught the supporter giving their honest opinion about one of reliever Danny Young’s pitches.
The Mets were facing the Astros in their spring training opener on Saturday afternoon at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Young was on the mound in the top of the fourth with Pedro León at the plate.
An 0-1 pitch from Young didn’t quite reach its mark, going way outside and reaching the backstop.
While spring training is when players get out the kinks before the regular season, that still wasn’t a pitch that was acceptable for one fan, who was sitting near one of the crowd mics and could be heard loud and clear on the SNY broadcast.
“None of those. Those are bad pitches,” the fan could be heard saying.
There was a brief chuckle from the SNY broadcast as well after a small pause.

“Cut em some slack, kid,” one person jokingly wrote on social media in response to the clip.
“Gonna guess he’s heard a lot of Karens at little league games yell that,” another person wrote on X.
“Kid knows you gotta throw that good pitch,” a third person wrote.
Young pitched one inning on Saturday and struck out one batter while giving up one run on one hit.
The Mets won 6-2 against the Astros in front of 7.394 fans as Clay Holmes was credited with the win in his debut with the team.
The game also featured Juan Soto’s first home run in a Mets uniform when he clobbered a ball 426 feet over the fence in left-center field.
“It means everything we have been doing is paying off,” Soto said after the game. “We have been working really hard this offseason to be ready, in good shape and pretty much be ready to be in the best spot for this year.”
