Shakira — who is currently embarking on her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour — has been hospitalized with an “abdominal issue” and had to postpone her show in Peru.
“I AM SORRY TO INFORM YOU ALL THAT LAST NIGHT I HAD TO GO TO THE ER FOR AN ABDOMINAL ISSUE AND AM CURRENTLY HOSPITALIZED,” she wrote in a statement shared to X Sunday.
“THE DOCTORS WHOSE CARE I AM CURRENTLY UNDER HAVE COMMUNICATED THAT I AM NOT IN GOOD ENOUGH CONDITION TO PERFORM THIS EVENING,” she continued.
Shakira, 48, added that she was “very sad” about the postponement because she had been “looking forward to reuniting” with her “incredible fans” in Peru.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker shared she’s hopeful “to be released and well” tomorrow so that she is “able to perform” on Monday.
“MY TEAM AND THE PROMOTERS ARE ALREADY WORKING ON A NEW DATE TO COMMUNICATE TO YOU. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING, I LOVE YOU ALL. SHAK,” she concluded the statement written in all capital letters.
The Grammy winner also shared the same statement in Spanish prior to sharing it in English.
Shakira kicked off the tour at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro on Feb. 11 and is scheduled to perform in Peru Monday.
She is then scheduled to perform five shows in Colombia — three in her hometown of Barranquilla — from Feb. 20 through Feb. 27.
The musician is set to close out the South American leg of the tour on March 8 before she kicks off her Mexico dates on March 12.
