Summarize this content to 2000 words in 6 paragraphs “Following patrols to ensure it is safe to do so, teams will work to isolate damaged assets and restore power to customers where possible.”They warned that those affected may experience outages “for an extended period”.“This is due to the number of faults across the network and the time required to replace damaged assets, with pole replacements in some instances taking up to eight hours,” they said.At the opening of a new Cardup fire station in Byford on Saturday morning the premier said emergency services crews were dealing with an unusual set of weather events.“At the moment, I can confirm that in the area of West Arthur River, three residential properties have been lost,” he said.“We don’t know the status of those properties, whether they were occupied or if they were vacant properties, but three homes have been lost in West Arthur River, and one home in the Yellanup area.“Emergency services crews are working tirelessly to address these particular fires brought about by the unusual weather events of yesterday; high humidity, some rainfall, heat and wind and so obviously, it presented a very difficult set of circumstances for those bush fires who were on the scene.”Cook added that a ‘microburst’ and small tornado hit the Pilbara township of Marble Bar in WA’s north late on Thursday evening during a severe thunderstorm that left five properties with significant damage and 27 others with minor damage.“Our hearts go out to them and just want to assure them that everything will be done to make sure that they are supported during their time of loss, and everything we can do we will in relation to supporting those people with their their loss as a result of these fire events,” he said.At the opening of the new $14.5 million fire station Cook said if re-elected, WA Labor would deliver a $97 million package to “better prepare local communities for the growing threat of natural disasters” including a “world-class” state emergency training centre.Loading“We know that the threat of bush fire risk will continue to rise in Western Australia, we have a drying climate, and just over the last 24 hours, you see how quickly the landscape can change and how quickly we need to respond to any element of fire risk,” he said.“Our volunteer and career firefighters do an amazing job responding, not only to fires, but to other emergencies such as risks such as floods, cyclones and other events. So it’s only right that we equip our firies with the skills and the equipment they need to do their job at our emergency state emergency management training centre which will enable them to practice and go through drills in a like situation.”Cook said the centre would simulate natural disasters like storms, floods, cyclones and bush fires.
