A couple from suburban Charlotte unwilling to wait for retirement to fulfill their dreams has moved to the doorstep of Walt Disney World in Florida, visiting the parks almost every day — and they’re loving their new life.
Jessica and John “Wes” Pruitt, 42 and 56, say they practically live at the House of Mouse — and wouldn’t have it any other way.
The couple made the move after watching a retired family member struggle to enjoy the life they worked so hard for — and knew they didn’t want to wind up in the same situation.
“We used to eat at the same five restaurants in a small suburb of Charlotte & sit on the couch every night,” Jessica told Caters News. “We didn’t want that to be the rest of our story, so, we made a change.”
Once their children were old enough and settled with families of their own, they packed their bags and moved from North Carolina, to Davenport, Florida, to be closer to the most magical place.
“My husband & I go to Disney World every day but it’s not what you think,” Jessica said.
“We love Disney World. There is so much more to do and see than just Mickey Mouse and roller coasters,” she added. “I can’t even count the amount of times we have been. We have lived here for a little over two years now.”
Living just seven miles away from the park gates, Jessica uses social media to show viewers of her viral videos that there’s more to the iconic resort than one might think.
In one popular video, Jessica shows how they spend a day at Disney World, including exploring, eating at restaurants, grabbing cocktails, meeting up with friends, watching fireworks, listening to live music and more.
“We have made friends with some of the staff. We go so much that we get the unique experience of being regulars,” Jessica shared.
For the playful pair, the parks have become a second home of sorts.
“We have lived here for a little over two years now and we are on Disney property in some way shape or form almost every day of the week,” Jessica said.
While not everyone understands their Disney-filled lifestyle, they mainly get positive responses, and their friends and family are happy that it brings them so much joy.
“We are very much the live & let live kind of people,” Jessica said. “You can pay bills & work from anywhere. Make the move & live anywhere your heart desires.”
