Suriyeliler are forming a crowd at the Öncüpınar Customs Gate in Kilis and after processing at the Voluntary Return Unit, they are returning to their country. Mahir el Cesim, who came to Öncüpınar Customs Gate to return to his country, stated that he took refuge in Turkey 12 years ago and thanked Turkey as they did not have any major troubles while living there. He mentioned that they are going back to their homeland now as the war has ended and Assad is gone, they can finally go back to Syria. Mustafa İsa, who has a shoe workshop in Turkey, expressed his gratitude to the Turkish people and stated that they are also waiting for Turkish people as guests in their country. He also mentioned that the situation in Syria will improve and all Syrians will return to their homeland, but currently, they hesitate due to their children’s schooling. He believes that once the children finish school, Syrians will return to their country.

Many Syrian citizens have been living in Turkey for years, escaping the war and seeking safety. With the recent developments in Syria, some of them are now making the decision to return to their homeland. The Voluntary Return Unit at the Öncüpınar Customs Gate in Kilis is where the necessary procedures for their return are being completed. This marks a new chapter for these individuals who have spent years away from home, and the hope is that the situation in Syria will continue to improve, allowing for a safe return for all Syrian refugees.

The Turkish people have played a significant role in supporting Syrian refugees during their time in Turkey, providing them with a safe haven and opportunities to rebuild their lives. Now, as some Syrian refugees prepare to return to their homeland, they express their gratitude to the Turkish people for their hospitality and support over the years. Mustafa İsa’s words reflect the sentiments of many Syrians who have found comfort and support in Turkey, and who now look forward to rebuilding their lives in their own country.

As the Syrian conflict has raged on for years, causing immense suffering and displacement, the prospect of returning to a more stable and peaceful Syria is a glimmer of hope for many refugees. The end of the war and the departure of Assad have created a sense of optimism among those who have been forced to flee their homes. Mahir el Cesim’s words capture this sense of hope and determination, as he looks forward to reuniting with his loved ones and contributing to the rebuilding of his country. The journey back to Syria may be filled with challenges, but for many refugees, it represents a chance to finally return home.

The process of voluntary return for Syrian refugees is a complex and emotional one, as individuals weigh the risks and opportunities of going back to their homeland. While many factors may influence their decision, including the current situation in Syria and the well-being of their families, the desire to return to their roots and contribute to the rebuilding of their country is a powerful motivator. The Turkish government’s efforts to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees reflect a commitment to supporting their safe and dignified return, while also addressing the challenges and uncertainties that may lie ahead. For those who choose to return, the journey back to Syria marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, filled with both challenges and opportunities.
