Passengers in panic after two failed takeoff attempts on ‘terrifying’ Boeing 737-800 flight

In Thailand, passengers on a Nok Air Boeing 737-800 flight were left uneasy after two failed takeoff attempts. The incident occurred just a day after a deadly crash involving a Jeju Air flight on a similar aircraft traveling from Thailand to South Korea. Passengers on the Nok Air flight, scheduled to depart from Bangkok, witnessed the plane’s engines stalling during both takeoff attempts, causing concern among those on board. The aircraft eventually returned to the terminal for further inspection.

Passenger Narongsak Toyabut captured footage inside the aircraft showing the struggle to take off from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport. During the first takeoff attempt, the engines stalled, leading to worries among the passengers. The second takeoff attempt saw the plane gain speed but fail to lift off. The captain announced an engine malfunction, prompting the aircraft to return to the airport for inspection. Toyabut expressed relief that the flight was delayed due to technical issues, preventing a potentially dangerous situation in mid-flight.

Following the incident, Nok Air released a statement explaining that safety is their top priority, leading to a thorough inspection of the aircraft before it was cleared for service. A replacement plane was brought in to operate the flight, causing a delay in departure time. The airline expressed apologies to all passengers affected by the incident. Meanwhile, investigators are still working to understand the circumstances surrounding the Jeju Air flight that exploded into flames after crashing into an embankment during a landing attempt in South Korea.

Authorities are planning to seize documents and materials related to the operation and maintenance of aircraft and airport facilities to determine why the Jeju Air flight experienced a landing gear malfunction and attempted a second landing despite declaring an emergency. The investigation aims to shed light on the sequence of events that led to the fatal crash and prevent future aviation incidents. Passengers and aviation regulators are awaiting the results of the investigation to understand what caused the tragic outcome and ensure that proper safety measures are implemented to prevent similar incidents.
