Amazon is launching a new storefront aimed at delivering a wide range of products priced $20 and under as the e-commerce giant faces increased pressure from discount retailers such as Shein, TikTok Shop and Temu.
“Amazon Haul” — a mobile only experience available on Amazon’s shopping app and its mobile website — will feature fashion, home, lifestyle, electronics and other products.
While Amazon has outpaced competitors with faster and faster delivery times, including one-day and same-day delivery for Prime members, typical delivery times for Amazon Haul items will be one to two weeks.
“Finding great products at very low prices is important to customers, and we continue to explore ways that we can work with our selling partners so they can offer products at ultra-low prices,” said Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of Worldwide Selling Partner Services at Amazon, said in a news release Wednesday.
Amazon said it will screen the products sellers offer in Haul for safety and authenticity, and that all items are covered by the company’s A-to-z Guarantee, for products that are damaged, defective, or not as described.
The Haul shopping experience features a dedicated search, cart, and checkout. Items are priced $20 or less with the majority priced $10 and under, and some items as low as $1, according to Amazon.
Free returns are offered on all Haul purchases over $3.00 within 15 days of delivery.
CNBC reported that Amazon is able to offer low prices through Haul by importing each item directly from manufacturers in China.
Shein has grown to become one of the leading online destinations for trendy, low-priced fashion items favored by young shoppers. The Singapore-based company, along with TikTok parent ByteDance, recently grabbed office space in Amazon’s backyard in Bellevue, Wash.
