Meteorology expert Murat Acar from the General Directorate of Meteorology provided information about the expected weather conditions in the country. He mentioned that Turkey will be under the influence of rainy and cool weather coming from the Balkans. He also stated that although a rainy system is approaching, it will be mild as it descends to the Mediterranean. Temperatures were above normal for the season, but with the rain, they will drop to around seasonal averages.

Acar mentioned that the rainy system started today, but the main impact will be felt tomorrow and over the weekend. He forecasted that tomorrow, the rains will be strong in the south of Marmara, Western Black Sea, and Eastern Mediterranean. He also pointed out that on Saturday, the rainy system will spread to a wider area, with strong rain expected in the coastal parts of the Aegean Region, Antalya, and the eastern Mediterranean coast.

He warned about the possibility of “flooding” in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions. Acar stated that the rains will move towards the east on Sunday and Monday, affecting the southern parts of Southeastern Anatolia and Eastern Anatolia. He added that temperatures may drop below seasonal averages in areas where rain falls in the Aegean and Marmara, but no extreme cold is expected.

Acar mentioned that Turkey will be under the influence of this rainy system until Tuesday, but a new rainy system is expected to arrive on Thursday. He emphasized that the rains will continue over the next 10 days and warned that the expected rain on Saturday and Sunday in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions could lead to flooding. He stated that official warnings will be issued regarding this.

Regarding the expected snowfall in the country, Acar mentioned that they do not expect snow in city centers. The possibility of snow exists in the high-altitude areas of cities such as Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, Van, Hakkari, Erzincan, and Tunceli in the coming week. However, no snowfall is expected in the central and western parts of the country.
