The rain alert and mobility restrictions in Catalonia have been lifted, as Protection Civil de la Generalitat deactivated the emergency phase of the special emergency plan for flood risk in Catalonia (Inuncat) and the alert of the Procicat plan for strong waves in the early hours of the morning. While the main precipitation has ended, the two plans remain in pre-alert for the next few hours. Additionally, the mobility restrictions that were in place in five regions from 6:00 a.m. yesterday have also been lifted. The heaviest rainfall occurred in the southernmost regions and Tarragona, with notable intensities and accumulations reported.
Throughout the night, the rain continued mainly in the Delta del Ebro area, with a torrential storm in Alcanar around 10:00 p.m. An alert was sent to the mobile phones of the municipality of Alcanar advising residents to move to higher floors and not to move due to the intensity of the storm. Despite water flowing heavily through some streets, no significant incidents were reported. As the main precipitation passed, the mobility restrictions were lifted as planned at midnight in the regions of Baix Ebre, Baix Camp, Ribera d’Ebre, Montsià, and Tarragonès. However, caution is advised in these regions due to the recent rains. A warning remains in place for accumulation of over 100 mm in 24 hours in Baix Ebre, Montsià, and Terra Alta until this morning.
During the episode, the emergency phone line 112 received a total of 787 calls until 1:00 a.m., resulting in 708 reports mainly in Tarragonès, Barcelonès, Baix Camp, and Montsià. Reports primarily concerned information requests, basement flooding, structural risks, and traffic incidents. The Generalitat firefighters received 52 storm-related service calls since yesterday morning, concentrated mainly in the Northern Metropolitan Emergency Region. The roads TP-3311 from La Galera to La Sénia and TV-3322 in Ulldecona remain closed due to flooding. Rail services have been partially restored, with the R15 line operational but the R16 between Tarragona-Tortosa-València and the R17 shuttle service between Tarragona and Salou/PortAventura still suspended.
Authorities urge residents to remain cautious in the affected regions as the aftermath of the storm continues to pose risks.
