The trial of the case began on the second day in the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court yesterday, where Baran Güran, the brother of Narin, Narin’s cousin Osman Güran, and the detained suspects Muhammet Kaya and Maşallah Güran were heard as witnesses.
During the trial, after a short break, the judge entered the courtroom. The judge addressed the courtroom through the microphone, stating that the defendant lawyers had asked him about the information that there was a secret witness statement regarding the death of Narin Güran that had appeared in the press, but there was no information or documents regarding this in the case file, and he did not have any information on the matter.
Later on, the wife of the detained uncle Salim Güran, Melek Güran, was heard as a witness. When asked by the judge what they did on the day Narin went missing, Melek Güran said that they cleaned the house, had breakfast, went to the market at 12.00, finished their errands in 2.5 hours, and her husband said he would go to the field. He did not return, and she was at home with the children.
When asked if she suspected anything about her husband’s behavior, Güran stated that she did not suspect anything at all. She also denied the allegations that her husband misled the police and gendarmerie and said that he participated in the search efforts with them.
Regarding the relationship between her husband and Nevzat, Güran mentioned that they used to be on good terms but that her husband was upset with him due to a car issue. She also stated that her husband was not upset with Salim during the search activities.
During the trial, various questions were asked to different witnesses, including whether anyone saw suspicious behavior from other family members, if there were any conflicts among the villagers, and the whereabouts of various individuals during the day Narin disappeared. The witnesses shared their perspectives and experiences, shedding light on the events surrounding Narin Güran’s disappearance.
