Christina Applegate, along with her cohost Jamie-Lynn Sigler, opened up about her daily battles with Multiple Sclerosis on their podcast “MeSsy.” The 52-year-old actress revealed that she experiences sharp pains, aches, and squeezing every day due to the autoimmune disease. She also mentioned that MS affects her hands, sometimes preventing her from picking up her phone or TV remote and making it difficult to open bottles. It was emphasized that the symptoms of MS vary from person to person.

Multiple Sclerosis, a condition that causes a breakdown of the protective covering of nerves, can lead to various symptoms such as numbness, weakness, difficulty walking, impaired vision, and more. Applegate’s candid health update came after she disclosed experiencing an MS relapse earlier this year, during which she struggled with everyday tasks like showering due to the debilitating effects of the disease. The actress was diagnosed with MS in 2021 and publicly shared the news on social media. Despite facing a tough road, she expressed gratitude for the support she received from others with the condition.

Despite the challenges she has faced since her diagnosis, Applegate also shared a positive experience with her health one week after her difficult podcast episode. The actress revealed that while on vacation with her family in The Netherlands and Paris, she was able to walk without a cane, surpassing her own expectations. Prior to the trip, she had not exceeded 2,000 steps in a day for two years. The unexpected improvement in her health gave her a sense of amazement and gratitude for the positive change.

In addition to her personal struggles with MS, Applegate opened up about the motivation behind starting her podcast with Sigler in March. She explained that after playing a character for 40 years, she wanted to show a different side of herself to the world. The podcast served as a platform for her to express her true self and share her experiences, including the challenges and triumphs of living with Multiple Sclerosis. Through their podcast, Applegate and Sigler aim to create a supportive and informative space for their listeners, shedding light on topics related to health, wellness, and personal growth.

Applegate also highlighted the importance of privacy as she navigates her journey with Multiple Sclerosis. Despite the challenges she faces on a daily basis, she remains resilient and determined to take the necessary actions to manage her condition. The actress shared that she wakes up every day and takes the indicated steps to move forward, seeking support from friends and finding moments of hope and progress in her health journey. As she continues to raise awareness about MS and share her personal story, Applegate remains committed to advocating for herself and others living with the condition.
