Is photo ID required for the 2024 election? A breakdown of state voter ID requirements

In the 2024 presidential election, Americans will choose between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. According to the National State Conference of Legislatures, 36 states require some form of identification at the polls, with some requiring photo documentation. These states include Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.

Each state has its own rules and regulations regarding voter identification requirements, so it is important for voters to be informed of the specific requirements in their state.
