The Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi) of the Valencian Community has issued a new warning for the population in the southern coastal areas of the province of Valencia due to heavy rainfall. The organization has declared a Red Alert level due to the increased vulnerability of roads, homes, and infrastructure in the affected municipalities. They have advised residents to stay in elevated areas, avoid traveling on roads, stay away from the coast, not cross flooded tunnels, rivers, or ravines, move vehicles from flood-prone areas, and follow the instructions of authorities and Civil Protection services. The recommendations come in response to the severe weather conditions caused by the “gota fría,” or cold drop phenomenon in the region.

As part of the alert, residents are urged to stay in their homes if possible, particularly in elevated areas. Those who are outside should seek shelter in high points and avoid traveling on roads or approaching coastal areas. The warnings aim to prevent any potential risks or dangers posed by the heavy rainfall and flooding in the affected areas. The Cecopi has also reported the visit of the King and Queen of Spain, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Valencian Government, Carlos Mazón, to assess the situation and provide support to the affected communities.

In addition to the Red Alert level for the southern coastal areas of Valencia, the Cecopi has also issued an Orange Alert level for the L’Horta Sud region due to the possibility of further rainfall episodes later in the day and evening. The alerts and recommendations aim to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the face of adverse weather conditions and potential risks of flooding and other hazards. It is essential for residents to comply with the guidance provided by authorities and Civil Protection services to minimize the impact of the severe weather on communities.

The heavy rainfall and flooding in the southern coastal areas of Valencia have led to the implementation of emergency measures and alerts to protect the population from potential risks and dangers. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and providing guidance and support to residents to ensure their safety and well-being. The recommendations to stay in elevated areas, avoid traveling on roads, and follow the instructions of authorities are crucial to minimizing risks and preventing accidents or injuries during the severe weather conditions caused by the “gota fría.”

Residents are urged to take precautionary measures and remain vigilant in the face of the ongoing severe weather conditions in the region. It is essential to stay informed about the latest updates and follow the instructions and recommendations provided by authorities to ensure personal safety and well-being. The support and assistance of authorities, Civil Protection services, and emergency response teams are vital in managing the impact of the adverse weather and protecting the population from potential risks and hazards. By following the guidance and staying informed, residents can contribute to their safety and the overall resilience of communities in the face of extreme weather events like the “gota fría” in the province of Valencia.
