The latest episode of “Saturday Night Live” featured numerous election-related jokes, including a bit about celebrities endorsing either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. During the “Weekend Update” segment, Heidi Gardner impersonated Reba McEntire and shared jokes about being undecided on which candidate to support. She humorously referenced her origins from McAlester, Oklahoma, where decisions are made slowly. Gardner quipped about not caring about political affiliations and emphasized supporting those who are on “Team Reba.”

Gardner’s McEntire character joked about voting for both Trump and Harris, likening the decision to the creamy and crunchy milk from McAlester. She humorously recounted her upbringing in a humorous, exaggerated manner, emphasizing her family’s unique values and experiences. Along with Colin Jost, Gardner entertained the audience with witty comments and playful banter about political parties, endorsements, and voting practices. The segment concluded with Gardner humorously announcing her intention to vote via unusual methods, adding a comedic touch to the election discussion.

The episode marked the show’s final one before the 2024 presidential election, with comedian John Mulaney as the host and Chappell Roan as the musical guest. Many celebrities have already publicly declared their support for either Harris or Trump, with A-listers such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Bruce Springsteen favoring Harris, while Jason Aldean, Elon Musk, and Kid Rock are among those supporting Trump. The show included a cameo by Kamala Harris herself, appearing alongside her impersonator Maya Rudolph during the cold open segment.

Celebrity endorsements and discussion about the upcoming election featured prominently on “Saturday Night Live,” with jokes and humor injected into the political commentary. The talented cast, including Heidi Gardner’s portrayal of Reba McEntire, provided entertaining moments for the audience, blending satire with current events. The episode provided a lighthearted take on the election season and showcased various perspectives on the candidates, highlighting the diversity of opinions within the entertainment industry.

The playful banter and jokes about endorsements, voting decisions, and personal experiences added humor and levity to the conversation around the presidential election. Through humorous portrayals like Gardner’s McEntire character, “Saturday Night Live” offered a comedic lens through which to view the complex political landscape. The show’s ability to address serious topics with humor and satire allowed viewers to engage with the election season in a more light-hearted manner, providing a brief respite from the intensity of the campaign trail. The episode set the stage for continued commentary on current events in future episodes, maintaining its role as a cultural touchstone for political and social discourse.
