Polls show Kamala Harris’ likelihood of winning Wisconsin

The race for Wisconsin in the 2024 election is incredibly close, as Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump held dueling rallies in the key swing state. Wisconsin, with its 10 electoral votes, is considered a must-win contest. President Joe Biden won the state in 2020 by just 0.7 percent, while Trump won in 2016 by the same margin over Hillary Clinton. According to polling from 538, Harris currently leads in Wisconsin by 0.8 points on average, making it a toss-up race according to their election forecast model.

Nate Silver, a renowned pollster, gives Harris a slight edge in Wisconsin, predicting a 55.8 percent chance of victory for the vice president over Trump’s 44.2 percent. Silver believes that whoever wins Wisconsin has a 74.3 percent chance of winning the overall election, further emphasizing the importance of the state in the presidential race. If Trump were to win Wisconsin, Silver’s model shows an 89.8 percent chance of overall victory for the former president, making the state a pivotal battleground in determining the outcome of the election.

Recent polling data from various sources indicates a tight race in Wisconsin between Harris and Trump. Polls conducted in late October showed the candidates tied or with slight leads within the margin of error. Despite the varying results, it is clear that both candidates are actively campaigning in the state, with Harris hosting events at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center and Trump holding a rally at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, the site of his Republican National Convention nomination.

Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin has thrown his support behind Harris, emphasizing the crucial nature of the close election in the state. Evers appeared at Harris’ rally near the University of Wisconsin-Madison and highlighted the momentum behind their campaign. He also criticized Trump’s behavior, particularly his recent attacks on Liz Cheney, a former Republican Congresswoman. Evers expressed concern about the message Trump’s behavior sends to children and called for an end to such inappropriate behavior.

The race for Wisconsin in the 2024 election has significant implications for the overall presidential race. With the state being a key battleground and both candidates neck and neck in polls, the outcome in Wisconsin could determine the overall victor. Harris and Trump are both actively campaigning in the state, with various polls showing a close race. Governor Evers’ support for Harris underscores the importance of the election in Wisconsin, where every vote could make a difference in ultimately deciding the next president of the United States, highlighting the significance of the state in the upcoming election.
