This entity was later revealed to be part of Musk’s political action committee, “America PAC,” which has spent millions of dollars campaigning for Trump and other Republican candidates since its launch in May.
Participants in Musk’s voter blitz began receiving checks issued by United States of America Inc. as part of America PAC’s voter giveaway. The giveaway promised participants $47 for each registered swing state voter they referred to sign the petition in support of free speech and the right to bear arms. The committee claimed to have distributed over 187,000 checks, totaling at least $8.7 million. Musk’s goal was to secure one million signatures, and some individuals reported receiving their payments by hand or through email notifications from America PAC.
Winners of the voter giveaway shared photos of their checks, which did not identify America PAC in any way.
