The Edmonton Elks finished the 2024 CFL season with a 7-11 record, falling short of the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. One standout player was receiver Eugene Lewis, who recorded his third 1,000-yard season and led the league in both total touchdowns and receiving touchdowns. Lewis set new team records for consecutive games with a receiving touchdown and tied another for consecutive games with a touchdown.
Left tackle Martez Ivey and centre Mark Korte were also recognized for their contributions to the team’s success. They helped the Elks become the highest-rushing team in the CFL with 2,365 yards and the fewest sacks allowed with 29. Pro Football Focus gave Ivey the highest grade of any offensive lineman in the league, while Korte received the highest grade among centres in the West Division. Both players were nominated for Most Outstanding Lineman.
Linebacker Nick Anderson had an exceptional season, finishing first in the CFL in total tackles, defensive plays, and defensive tackles. Along with Nyles Morgan, Anderson became part of just the third duo in CFL history to record 100 defensive tackles each in the same season. Anderson was recognized as the Elks’ nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie. Defensive end Elliott Brown also had a strong finish to the season, recording five of his eight sacks in the final eight games. Brown’s eight sacks led the Elks and tied for first in the league among all players.
Safety Loucheiz Purifoy excelled in pass defense, leading all safeties with eight pass knockdowns and five interceptions. He also tied for third in the CFL in defensive takeaways with six. Punter Jake Julien had a standout season, leading the league with a 54.0-yard punt average and setting a new CFL record. Julien also led the league in net punt average and tied for the lead in punts landing inside the opponents’ 10-yard line. Overall, the Edmonton Elks had multiple players recognized for their outstanding performances during the 2024 season, despite falling short of playoff contention.
