In the Çankaya district, on October 25th at 8:39 pm, a suspect approached a jeweler who was waiting at the door to close his shop and threatened him with a gun from behind. The suspect attempted to fire the gun but it jammed, so he entered the shop with two accomplices and stole gold worth 1 million lira. They also forcibly took the jeweler’s car before fleeing from the scene.
Upon receiving a report, the Ankara Security Directorate Robbery Bureau teams conducted an investigation in the direction of the suspects’ escape. The teams were able to locate the car within 3 hours and apprehended each suspect separately. The stolen gold was found inside a welding machine where the suspects had hidden it. The recovered gold and the car were returned to the jeweler.
Police determined that the stolen gold was not with the suspects, leading them to conduct a search. The discovery of screws and a screwdriver next to a welding machine in the searched area caught the attention of the police. Upon further examination, it was determined that the suspects had hidden the gold there. Additionally, it was learned that the suspects had returned the gun they used in the robbery to the person they had purchased it from, claiming that it had malfunctioned. The police later apprehended the gun seller as well.
