2024 Heisman Rankings: Cam Ward Leads, Travis Hunter Climbs the List

The ninth week of the college football season saw several players distinguish themselves. Notably, Miami’s Cam Ward and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel had standout moments and are now leading the Heisman odds. Yet it was Travis Hunter from Colorado who gained significant attention with his performance in Colorado’s 34-23 victory over Cincinnati. Unfortunately, Ashton Jeanty from Boise State’s Heisman odds took a hit after his team’s narrow 29-24 win over UNLV.

Cam Ward, the quarterback at Miami, is currently leading the Heisman odds with +230. Despite not throwing a touchdown pass during the 36-14 win over Florida State, Ward threw for 208 yards and caught a 7-yard touchdown pass in the final quarter, keeping Miami’s undefeated streak alive. The next game will see Ward and his team host Duke on November 2nd.

Oregon’s quarterback Dillon Gabriel is second in the Heisman odds with +250. Gabriel put on a show in Oregon’s decisive 38-9 win over Illinois, completing 18 out of 26 passes and accumulating 291 yards and three touchdowns. Gabriel, who was previously third in the Heisman leaderboard, has now completed 76% of his passes over eight games, totalling 2,371 yards and 18 passing touchdowns. The Ducks will be hosting Michigan on November 2nd.

Travis Hunter, from Colorado, made his mark in the 34-23 win over Cincinnati with nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns, and has seen his Heisman odds rise to +380. In addition to his offensive prowess, Hunter also proved valuable on the defense. After a bye next week, Hunter and the Buffaloes will face Texas Tech in Texas on November 9th.

On the flip side, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty’s Heisman odds have decreased to +425, following a close win over UNLV. Although his stats this week were not as impressive as usual, Jeanty saved the day by scoring the game-winning touchdown in the 4th quarter. Jeanty has managed to surpass the 100-yard mark in all games this season. Boise State will take on San Diego State on November 1st.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik also deserves attention, despite being on bye this week. His odds for the Heisman stand at +2000. Klubnik helped his team secure a 48-31 win over Virginia last weekend, by making completed 23 of his 35 attempts. Next, he and the Tigers will take on Louisville on November 2nd.

Lastly, Georgia’s Carson Beck, with odds of +3500 for the Heisman, is also one to watch. Beck was key in Georgia’s 30-15 victory over then-No. 1-ranked Texas last week, despite not scoring any touchdowns and enduring three interceptions. His tally for the season is 1,993 yards with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions from seven games. The Bulldogs will be playing Florida on November 2nd.
