A snowslide occurred at the 28th kilometer of the Borçka-Camili road, which provides access to Camili Basin, the only biosphere reserve area in Turkey, located in Borçka. As a result of the road being closed to traffic in both directions due to the snowslide, transportation to the villages of Uğur, Düzenli, Camili, Kayalar, Efeler, and Maral in the basin is currently not possible. Fortunately, there have been no casualties or property damage reported in the incident. Road maintenance crews have been dispatched to the area to reopen the road for traffic.

The Camili Basin is known for its unique flora and fauna, as well as its diverse ecosystem. Being designated as Turkey’s only biosphere reserve area, it is a significant and environmentally important site. The road that leads to the basin plays a crucial role in providing access to this protected area for researchers, tourists, and locals alike. The closure of the road due to the snowslide has disrupted transportation to several villages in the area, impacting the daily lives of the residents.

Efforts are underway to clear the road and make it safe for traffic once again. The road maintenance crews are working diligently to remove the snow and debris caused by the snowslide. It is essential to ensure the safety of the road before reopening it to prevent any potential accidents. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating the necessary resources to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Local residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid traveling in the area until the road is officially reopened. The safety of the residents and travelers is of utmost importance, and it is crucial to follow the instructions given by the authorities during such situations. Road closures due to natural incidents like snowslides are not uncommon in mountainous regions, and it is essential to take necessary precautions to prevent any accidents or injuries.

Once the road is cleared, normal traffic flow will resume, allowing transportation to the villages in the Camili Basin to return to normal. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by the unique natural environment of the area and the importance of maintaining infrastructure to ensure safe access. The authorities are working to address the issue promptly and minimize the impact on the residents and visitors to the region.
