Four people have died and another has been seriously injured in a traffic accident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Moraleda de Zafayona (Granada), according to information from the Coordination Center for Emergencies (Cecem) 112, a service attached to the Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Andalusian Regional Government. The incident took place at 12:25 a.m. when a car traveling towards Granada, at kilometer 215 of the A-92, veered off the road and crashed into one of the pillars of the bridge on the road to Fuensanta. At 12:30 a.m., the 112 Phone received the first of several distress calls alerting to the crash. A Traffic Officer from the Guardia Civil de Navarra, who was on vacation with his family and was driving on the A-92, noticed a bumper on the right shoulder, which he found unusual and suspected that an accident had occurred. He alerted the emergency services, took the next exit, turned back to the same point, and found the crashed vehicle. He stopped a few meters before and went to the aid of the occupants. The only conscious person was the one sitting in the front seat, next to the driver, whom he managed to extract from the vehicle.
The coordinating center activated the 061 Emergency Medical Services, the Traffic Police, the Firefighters from the Granada Provincial Consortium, and road maintenance. The intervention of the firefighters was necessary to rescue the other occupants of the vehicle. So far, one of the deceased and the seriously injured person have been identified: both are Colombian citizens and residents of Gójar (Granada). The injured person is 39 years old and one of the deceased was 23. The Judicial Police is working on identifying the other occupants.
