Maryland residents are able to start heading to their polling places for in-person early voting on Thursday, with several key down-ballot races to keep an eye on in addition to the presidential race. For the Maryland Senate race, former Republican Governor Larry Hogan is tied in polls with Democrat Angela Alsobrooks, with Hogan gaining support for his moderate policy proposals and criticism of former President Trump. Alsobrooks is leaning on her experience as a county executive and prosecutor, and despite the state’s heavily Democratic lean, the race is ranked Lean D in the Fox News Power Rankings. In Maryland’s 6th Congressional District, Democrat April McClain Delaney is facing Republican Neil Parrott in a race ranked Likely D in the Power Rankings.

For those looking to vote in Maryland, there are several options available. Maryland residents can vote by mail, with absentee voting starting in late September. There is no need to provide an excuse to receive a ballot, and ballot applications must be received by the state by Oct. 29, with ballots needing to be delivered to county officials by Nov. 5. Early in-person voting starts on Oct. 24 and runs through Oct. 31. Residents can also register to vote in person during early voting or on Election Day, with the online or mail registration deadline being Oct. 15.

Maryland residents are encouraged to visit Vote.gov and the election website for Maryland for the most up-to-date information on voter eligibility, processes, and deadlines. By providing easy access to absentee voting and offering early in-person voting, Maryland aims to make it more convenient for residents to participate in the election process. In addition to the presidential race, voters in Maryland will have the opportunity to weigh in on several hotly contested down-ballot races, including the Maryland Senate race and the 6th Congressional District race.

Republican Larry Hogan and Democrat Angela Alsobrooks are vying for the Maryland Senate seat, with Hogan touting moderate policy proposals and distancing himself from former President Trump, while Alsobrooks emphasizes her experience as a county executive and prosecutor. In the Maryland 6th Congressional District race, Democrat April McClain Delaney faces off against Republican Neil Parrott in what is expected to be safe territory for Democrats. These down-ballot races, along with the presidential race, will play a significant role in shaping the future of Maryland and the country as a whole.

As Maryland residents prepare to cast their ballots, it is important to be informed about the various ways to vote, including by mail and in person during early voting. The state has made it easier for residents to participate in the election process by offering multiple options for voting, from absentee voting to in-person early voting. By taking advantage of these opportunities, Maryland residents can ensure that their voices are heard and play a crucial role in determining the outcomes of key down-ballot races in addition to the presidential election.
